Previous name was: Cost in cents of United States Postal Service postage for a 1 ounce domestic first class letter, since the institution of "uniform" letter rates in 1863.

Examples

			a(1)=6 since the first uniform letter rate (in 1863) was 3 cents per 1/2 ounce.
a(2)=4 since this rate was reduced to 2 cents per 1/2 ounce in 1883.
a(3)=2 since a per ounce price of 2 cents was instituted in 1885.
